When you drive through deep water, you should dry out your brakes by driving slowly in low gear and apply your brakes lightly (TRUE), as driving more rapidly could make bow waves, could end up in your tyres losing contact with the road (aquaplaning) or water coming in the engine's air intake. You should avoid driving in deep water if you can, but if that's not possible, at least turn your headlights on, keep a safe distance to the car in front of you (twice as much), slow down if you feel the steering light (aquaplaning) and don't prop the bonnet open.
