Answered

Using synthetic division, what is the quotient of x^4 – 10x^3 + 32x^2 – 37x + 10 and x- 5
A.
x^3 + 5x^2 + 7x + 2
B. x^3 - 5x^2 + 7x - 2
C. x^2 - 5x +7
D. x^2 -5x – 7

Answer :

Using synthetic division , the quotient is [tex]x^3-5x^2+7x-2[/tex]

Given :

find the quotient of [tex]\frac{\left(x^4\:-\:10x^3\:+\:32x^2\:-\:37x\:+\:10\:\right)}{\left(x-5\right)}[/tex]

Use synthetic division to find the quotient

In synthetic division , we write all the coefficient of all the terms in the divided inside the division .

then set the divisor =0

[tex]x-5=0\\x=5[/tex]

Divide all the coefficients by 5

Take down the first number as it is . Then multiply by 5  and write it below the second number. Add it . Continue the same step till we get remainder.

5           1               -10         32             -37           10

                              5           -25            35           -10

 --------------------------------------------------------------------------

              1                -5         7                -2             0

The quotient is [tex]1x^3-5x^2+7x-2[/tex]
