The Palestine territory was controlled by Britain who was in charge of controlling Jewish immigration into the Palestine region. Since Britain deemed that it couldn't control it because the Arabs disliked the idea of Jewish people immigrating, they kept attacking Britain so Britain decided to give the country up and withdraw its troops. When they withdrew, the people of Israel used that to proclaim their Independence and the formation of the first State of Israel. Both the Soviets and the US recognized it as a new states while Arabian states did not, which led to numerous wars to come over the territory.
