Space exploration of any kind costs billions of dollars. Some people argue that it is well worth the cost because of the discoveries that are made that ultimately benefit everyone. Others argue that the benefits do not outweigh the costs and that we should be using that money for other purposes including poverty reduction, education, and rebuilding our infrastructure. What are the pros and cons of space exploration?

jobs! so many people have jobs w/ NASA etc

you can study movements of foreign objects to plan (asteroid for example)

make new friends on the mission

educates kids

Cons:

very very expensive

risks to astronauts

exposure to radiation

possibility of bringing unknown and/or harmful elements to Earth

conflicts between countries (as with JFK's "The Moon Speech")

stuff may be lost (space stuff)
