The post MI client is suspected of being in acute adrenal crisis. What acid-base imbalance would the nurse expect to observe in the client and what medication would be provided to correct this?

The acid-base imbalance the nurse expect from a post MI to observe is metabolic acidosis. In metabolic acidosis, the bicarbonate decrease in relation to the acid inside the body. This usually occurs during the early stages of acute Myocardial infarction in which this can contribute to developing dysrrythmias. The treatment of metabolic acidosis is alkali therapy.Medication includes Sodium Bicarbonate which neutralizes acid in the stomach.
